Generalised Anxiety disorder is when a person feels a constant fear of nothing in particular, but there a regular sense of foreboding and worry, this may also be accompanied with mild physical symptoms

A panic attack on the other hand is intense, sudden & usually unexpected. Symptoms can be so forceful that they may be mistaken for other conditions such as a heart attack or any other life threatening condition. Anxiety can play tricks on the mind like this in a number of ways.

What causes Anxiety and Panic?

Scientists now believe that some people are more prone to anxiety attacks than others and that the central system of some people may overreact to stress and also take a longer time to recover; there may also be physiological causes as sensitive people appear more prone to the Illness.

Anxiety and panic can be caused by three main factors – an upsetting event which triggers the condition and or a biochemical situation where individuals have higher levels of lactic acid than is normal in the body. Lactic acid is produced when muscles metabolise sugar without enough oxygen.

Research has also found that anxiety may be due to the overproduction of stress hormones by the brain and adrenal glands.
